tiivii, an automatic production system for sporting events, will be installed in five sports venues in A Coruña

  • With the aim of introducing intelligent technologies in its sports venues, the City Council of A Coruña has reached an agreement with the company cinfo to install the necessary equipment for the automatic broadcasting of sporting events
  • The system will be deployed over the summer and will come into operation when the new sports season begins

cinfo, a leading Spanish company in the development of products based on Artificial Intelligence, video technologies and live video, and the City Council of A Coruña have reached an agreement to install the necessary equipment for the automatic broadcasting of sporting events in five of the city’s sport venues.

Presented on 1 July at a joint press conference between A Coruña City Council and cinfo, this project is the first to be carried out between the local administration and the A Coruña-based company. Mónica Martínez, Councillor for Sports at the City Council, indicated that “these five pavilions will be used to test the system with the intention of extending it to more pavilions and sports fields in the city in a second phase”.

The installation of tiivii, a product designed for the fully automated generation of content and audiovisual production of events, will allow live broadcasting of events without the need for anyone to travel. The system, which will make use of the equipment deployed in the sports facilities and a production table in the cloud, is capable of following the action of each player autonomously and independently by being connected to cameras governed by Artificial Intelligence (AI), as well as incorporating advanced features such as voiceovers, graphics and advertising, scoreboards, real-time replays and 180-degree vision for virtual reality glasses. The system will be deployed over the summer and will come into operation when the new sports season begins.

For his part, Antonio Rodríguez del Corral, CEO of cinfo, highlighted the opportunity that tiivii opens up for clubs to obtain more advertising revenue by providing them with a low-cost, automatic sports broadcasting system.
With the installation of tiivii, the City Council seeks to modernise the city’s sports centres and support clubs and grassroots sport in A Coruña so that they have an intelligent broadcasting system available 365 days a year to transmit matches and competitions and make it easier for all the citizens of A Coruña to enjoy them remotely.

The project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 954040.
