Summer is the season of concerts and festivals, when culture takes center stage in squares, parks, and open-air venues around the world. At tiivii, we also joined the movement with a very special project: bringing Verdi’s opera Falstaff to unconventional spaces in Sweden, showing how technology can expand access to the arts like never before.

Opera on a Lorry: A Traveling Stage in Skåne

The initiative, called “Opera on a Lorry,” toured 18 towns across the Skåne region of Sweden with a creative one-hour version of Giuseppe Verdi’s Falstaff. Streets, squares, and parks became improvised stages, bringing opera closer to diverse audiences in informal, accessible settings.

But the project didn’t stop there. The performances were also streamed live to 190 nursing homes across the region—bringing music and joy directly to people who might otherwise not be able to attend. This simple but powerful idea democratized access to culture and made opera part of daily life for many.

Technology and Culture Working Hand in Hand

This pioneering project is part of the Kalaudiscope initiative, a collaboration between four partners exploring how digital technology can enhance the performing arts before, during, and after live shows:

• 🎭 Malmö Opera – bringing artistic direction and performance.

• 🎓 Lund University – researching the impact of cultural digitalization.
• 🚀 Cinfo (tiivii) – delivering automated and remote production.

Together, these partners proved that culture can drive innovation, while technology can break barriers and open new doors to artistic experiences.

tiivii’s Role: 100% Mobile Streaming

At the heart of this project was tiivii, enabling seamless, professional broadcasting without costly on-site installations:

• ✅ A fully mobile setup, powered by 5G and Axis cameras, to stream from new locations every day.

The result was a traveling opera that adapted to different spaces daily, while always maintaining high-quality, stable streaming.

• To carry out an event remotely from anywhere in the world, reducing travel and the costs associated with it.
• Reducing the equipment needed to operate it, as the Studio works on any web browser and does not require high performance or heavy equipment to be carried from one place to another. It can be operated from a laptop or mobile phone.

The Mar de Vigo Auditorium and Conference Centre, 90-20 as official distributor and cinfo have reached an agreement to incorporate the tiivii automatic television production system in its facilities with the aim of covering the events held at the venue with a hybrid and high-performance approach.

Installed in the Auditorium’s foyer and multi-purpose hall, tiivii will completely change the experience of concerts, conferences and shows held at the venue, significantly enhancing their versatility by complementing scheduled activities through a fully automated live broadcast system without the need for human intervention through the use of intelligent cameras that produce quality events in a matter of minutes. The product includes support for graphic media, voiceovers, video mixing and a full cloud-based production desk powered by artificial intelligence that can be used according to the particular needs of each event.

The incorporation of tiivii in the Mar de Vigo Auditorium and Conference Centre is an optimisation of the versatility and usability of the facilities throughout the year, placing it at the technological forefront now that the cultural industry has been forced to look for other ways of broadcasting its events due to the impact of COVID-19.

As part of the CDG and Xunta de Galicia’s initiative to promote culture, the adaptation of Homer’s classic directed by Santiago Cortegoso and Marian Bañobre, which is set in a transatlantic context parallel to ‘The Odyssey’ in which a poetic dialogue is generated between the original myth and the phenomenon of Galician emigration, was performed and broadcast on 26 March for more than 1,200 pupils through tiivii. 200 students through tiivii, a live broadcasting system in a totally automated way and without the need for human intervention through the use of intelligent cameras.

Adapted to the organisation of schools and the audiovisual educational language, the play was completed with a talk in which students were able to interact in an open discussion with the director of the CDG, Fran Núñez and the directors of the play, to discover the process of creating the show, its adaptation, staging and various curiosities related to the play.

This concert arises from the initiative of the Cultural Association NipPop founded in 2013 and located in Bologna. The Cultural Association NipPop,  aims toward the promotion of contemporary Japanese culture in Italy, through a calendar of events, workshops, exhibitions and conferences drawing world-renowned artists and scholars. In parallel, through its web page, NipPop caters to Japanese culture students and enthusiasts – as well as cinema and art in a wider sense – sharing updates and information with the intent to open up new perspectives on contemporary Japan’s pop culture.
